Valere Alphe "Val" Naert, son of Rene P. (1881-1955) and Anna (Colby) (1897-1955) Naert, was born 28 March 1929, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan. He graduated, serving as his senior classes president, in 1947 from Okemos High School. Val, who never married, was appointed Ingham County, Meridian Township Fire Chief in 1955 (Lansing State Journal article 5 October 1955) and served in that position for a number of years. He also owned and operated a security and limousine service.
Val died 25 February 2002, Ingham County. Val's parents were interred Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Williamston, Ingham County. Attached on his parents's headstone is a plaque which reads; "Valere A."

Devoted, kind, loving brother and uncle passed away Monday, February 25, 2002, at the age of 72. Val owned and operated Annand Security and Lansing Limousine Service. He was a graduate of Okemos High School and M.S.U., and former Fire Chief of Meridian Twp. He loved animals, especially Butch. He is survived by his sister, Georgine (Bill) Sherman and brother Rene Naert, both of Haslett; brother, Steve Naert of East Lansing; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. March 6, 2002, at Chapel In The Pines Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. C. Lee Filker officiating.
