Obituary of Dale O. Grettenberger

Dale O. Grettenberger passed away on Sunday January 29, 2017. Dale was born on June 27, 1933 in Okemos MI to Herman Jake and Margaret (Ley) Grettenberger. He grew up on the family farm, graduating from Okemos High School in 1951. In 1954, Dale moved to Hatch Road with his step-mother Alice (Miller Cole) Grettenberger and younger brother Charles. Dale enlisted in the Army, spending time in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Dale was a self-employed residential repair specialist in Okemos for many years. He was an avid supporter of the American Red Cross Blood Donor program, donating many gallons over his lifetime. Dale was active at the Meridian Senior Center in Okemos and enjoyed the Swiss Steak dinners. Dale is survived by his brother Charles (Linda) Grettenberger of Eaton Rapids, MI, step-sister Evelyn (Gerald) Horstman of Grand Rapids, MI and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, sister Valda (Leo) Davidowicz, step-mother Alice Grettenberger, and step-sister Doris (William) Kremer. Services will be held on Monday February 6, 2017 1pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI. Visitation will be held Sunday February 5, 2017 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Glendale Cemetery, Okemos MI. Memorial contributions can be made to Meridian Senior Center, Okemos in Dale's name. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing Chapel.
