Alfred Charles "Al" Kornmeyer, son of Charles Henry "Charlie" (1908-1987) and Aileen Mary (Wagner) (1912-1984) Kornmeyer, was born 12 February 1933, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan. Al's father, Charlie, was employed for many years at the Okemos Public School bus garage. A late 1940's Lansing State Journal news article referred to him as "transportation manager and mechanic." He faithfully drove and repaired the school buses.
Al attended Okemos High School with the class of 1952. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and chose to make a career of military service.

KORNMEYER - Pfc. Alfred C. Kornmeyer, R. 2, Okemos, is serving with the First Armored division at Fort Hood, Tex. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kornmeyer, and a former student of Okemos high school.
While serving in Japan Al met and married Reiko Kono on 6 April 1955. The couple celebrated 42 years and 3 children together. Reiko, born
18 November 1933, Japan, died 24 December 1998, Calhoun County, Michigan.
Al spent 20 years serving his nation before honorable discharge in 1971. After Reiko's death he married Vera May Warren 16 March 2002. Al died 10 February 2013, Marshall, Calhoun County. His cremated ashes were placed to Reiko in Lyon Lake Cemetery, Wrights Corners, Calhoun County.

Alfred C. Kornmeyer, 79, of Fredonia Township, died on Monday, February 11, 2013, at his home. Mr. Kornmeyer was born February 12, 1933, in Okemos to Charles H and Aileen M (Wagner) Kornmeyer. On April 6, 1955, he married Reiko Kono in Tokyo, Japan. She preceded him in death on December 24, 1997. On March 16, 2001, he married Vera Seiler-Warren in Marshall. Mr. Kornmeyer enlisted in the US Army from in 1951. He made his career in the army working on radar equipment. He was honorable discharged and retired in 1971 as Chief Warrant Officer. After his retirement, he worked in television repair in the area for several years, and also worked at the Shell Station on Partello Road many years. Mr. Kornmeyer attended Lyon Lake United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Marshall Moose Lodge #676. He enjoyed being a handy man and always finding work around the house, and always working on a project. He is survived by his wife Vera of Marshall, sons Thomas (Donna) Kornmeyer of Homer, Jerry Kornmeyer of Marshall, step children Glen (Linda) Stevens Jr. of Kentucky, Grace (Gary) Yeo of Kalamazoo, Dennis (Nancy) Stevens of Texas, and Chris Cunningham. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and step grandchildren Colt Cunningham, serving in the service overseas Melanie (Keith) Wren, and a sister Madelyn (Dean) Sloan, he was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Pryor in 2012, and sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Richard Gleason. Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Friday from 2-8pm with family present to greet friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11am on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Stover officiating. Following the services the family will gather with friends at the Marshall Moose Lodge. A private family interment of cremated remains will be held on Monday at Lyon Lake Cemetery.

Reiko Kornmeyer, age 64 of Marshall, died Wednesday, December 24, 1997 at her home following a long illness.
Mrs. Kornmeyer was born November 18, 1933 in Sambongi, Japan to Fumio and Sato Kono. She married Alfred Charles Kornmeyer April 6, 1955 in Tokyo, where he was stationed while serving in the military.
She had been employed at Progressive Dynamics for 25 years, retiring earlier this year due to poor health. Mrs. Kornmeyer enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred; a daughter, Mary Pryor of Marshall; sons Thomas Kornmeyer of Homer and Jerry Kornmeyer of Marshall; four grandsons and one granddaughter; sisters Noriko Tamakawa and Sachiko Sugano, both of Japan; brothers Toru Kono, Tadashi Kono, Kaoru Kono, and Shigero Kono, all of Japan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. Services will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
