Meredith M. Marshall (Caldwell)

Meredith M. Marshall, daughter of Donald Krainer (1910-1973) and Margaret Joan (Washburne) (1913-2012) Marshall, was born 8 July 1941, Evanston, Cook County, Illinois.  Meredith's father received his masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Chicago.  He was an associate professor of philosophy at Michigan State University 1950-1968.  Meredith's mother held a bachelor's degree in art history from the University of Chicago and a master's in education from MSU.  Mrs. Marshall was of the founder of Okemos Friends of the Library.

Meredith graduated in 1959 from Okemos High School.  At graduation she was presented the school Art Medal.  Meredith was talented in drawing and painting.

At the time of her father's 1973 death, Meredith was listed as "Mrs. John Thompson of Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada."  Meredith's mother married James Clarence Plagge who died in 1999.  According to Mr. Plagge's obituary, "Meredith Caldwell (John)" was listed as a step-child.

Meredith died 4 November 2009, Genoa, Dekalb County, Illinois.  She was interred next to her father's remains, McDowell Cemetery, South Haven Highlands, Allegan County, Michigan.

Meredith M. Caldwell, 68, of Genoa, Ill., died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Bethany Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 8, 1941, in Evanston, the daughter of Donald and Margaret (Washburne) Marshall. Meredith worked as a medical transcriptionist for Med Quest for 10 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Robert) Simons of British Columbia, Canada; her mother, Margaret Plagge of DeKalb; one brother, Jonathan (Karen) Marshall of Wyoming, Mich.; one sister, Faith (Larry) Anderson of Malta; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald.
Services will be private. Arrangements were completed by Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore
