Stephen Mark Butcher

January 23, 1954 ~ February 18, 2019 (age 65)

It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen Mark Butcher announces his passing on Feb 18, 2019 while hiking on Sunrise Trail in Scottsdale. Steve was born January 23, 1954 in Sacramento CA to Don and Sara Butcher.  He grew up  in Michigan and later moved to Salt Lake City Utah where he attended the University of Utah.  After graduation, marriage, and 3 children,  Arizona became home for the next 32 years.  

Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Virginia; his sons, Matt, Adam and Jared; his grandchildren, Jack, Emery and Logan; his father, Don; his brother, Joe (Theresa); his sister, Christi (Greg) Braspenninx; his aunt, Doris Komar; sister in law, Kathy;  brother in law, Jim (Susan) Laughtland; sister in law, Lois (Mac) Meyer; many nieces, nephews,  cousins, extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Sara and his brother, Mike.

Steve was admired for his faithful dedication to God, his strength of character, and steadfast love and devotion for his family.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday Feb 27 at 10:00 am at the Church of the Ascension, Fountain Hills followed by interment at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, Phoenix AZ.
