Michael Duffy - Class Of 1974 VIEW PROFILE

Michael Duffy

Michael "Mike" Joseph Duffy class of 1974

Aug 15, 1956 — Jul 22, 2026

Michael Joseph Duffy, 69, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away July 22nd, 2026.

Michael was born August 15th, 1956, to Richard and Beverly (Worden) Duffy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He lived there for many years until his family relocated to Okemos, Michigan.

He grew up like every little boy. Riding his bike, hanging with friends and family, and playing sports at school such as football and basketball. He graduated from Okemos High School, where he then went to Western Michigan University and later transferred to the University of Kentucky, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree.

After college, he went on to hold a steady career in Ohio, where he met the mother of his children, Tami. That company led him back to Kentucky, where he worked for many years before being relocated back to Ohio. Though his love for the state of Michigan (Go Green), he built his life in the Buckeye State.

Michael was an avid hunter, fisher, and all-around outdoorsman. He spent most of his time in the woods or by water. He took yearly hunting trips with friends and family. He was one with nature. He loved sports and his Michigan State Spartans. He enjoyed having game nights at the house with all the snacks to watch football. He would even make day trips to Michigan to watch his nephews' and nieces' sporting events.

He was a true family man. He was so proud of his kids, family, and friends' accomplishments. He wanted nothing more than to see his loved ones doing well and growing in life. He was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He effortlessly touched the lives of everyone he came across. He will truly and dearly be missed by us all.

Michael was one of the funniest people you ever met. From his one-liners to his overall joyful spirit. He would have any room laughing with tears. He gave everyone the most wonderful nicknames that deeply spoke from his heart. We will cherish the laughs, memories, and moments we had with him. He will be remembered by the lake with his family in Michigan on August 15th, his 70th birthday, at a private family memorial.

Rest in peace, Big Fella

He is survived by the mother of his children: Tamara Sue Duffy; his children: Richard Ashton (Clorisa Hurless) Duffy and Laura Elizabeth (Andrew Swigart) Duffy; grandchildren: Rayne Michelle Beth Brewer, Roman Alexander Hurless, Freya Rose Hurless, Reyna Moon Hurless; nieces: Johanna Morrisett, Katie Schmidt, Mackenzie Smart; nephews: Ryan Bruce, Cameron Bruce, Adam Morrisett; and sisters: Barbra Jane (David Bruce) Duffy, Sharon Duffy (Jerry Morrisett) Morrisett.

He is preceded in death by his brother Thomas (Tommy) class of 1977, father Richard, and his mother Beverly Duffy.
