Walter Scott "Wally" Rutherford, son of William Wylie Sr. (1914-2005) and Grace (Simpson) (1920-2009) Rutherford, was born 8 September 1955. He graduated in 1974 from Okemos High School.
Wally served in the US Marine Corp. His mother served in the United States Naval Reserve, better known as the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II.
Wally died 1 May 2014, Tennessee.

Walter Scott Rutherford 58, formerly of Okemos, passed away in his home on May 1, 2014. He was born in Michigan to the late Wylie and Grace Rutherford. Wally has most recently resided in Johnson City and Gray, TN.
Wally was a proud Marine veteran and talented golfer.
Wally is survived by sisters Janne Dunham-Taylor; Sue Ann Rutherford and husband, Lon Hall; and Julie Abbate and husband Bob; by brother William (Bill) Rutherford, Jr. and wife, Sarah; and nephews Nicholas and Max Abbate, and Wills Rutherford III.
