Paula Jo Hekler class of 1979

January 20, 1961 – February 1, 2016

Paula Jo Hekler 55, of Holt passed away Monday, February 1, at her residence. Greeting her in Heaven are her parents Joe and Sophie Hekler and her nephew Jason Popard. She is survived by brother Joel (Susan) Hekler, and sisters Tina (Tom) Garove, and Judy (Wayne) Popard. She is also survived by nieces Katy Sheridan and Kelly Hekler, and nephews Drew Hekler and Jeff Popard.

Pj was born on January 20, 1961 and grew up in Okemos. She was a graduate of Okemos High School class of 1979. From produce manager at Schmidt’s to working security for the State of Michigan, PJ made friends easily wherever she worked. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She loved MSU football and basketball and was a huge fan of the Detroit Lions. She loved "that old time rock and roll” and especially Bruce Springsteen.

Following her wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate PJ's life will be held at Buddies Sports Bar in Holt, on Friday from 1:00-3:00. Wear your MSU or Lions shirt and bring pictures and memories to share. She would love it!
