Scott R. Spalding, son of John M. (1927-2008) and Mary Ellen (Doyle) (1928-2007), was born 14 May 1962, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan. Scott graduated in 1980 from Okemos High School. During his high school years Scott was an outstanding skier and part of the Okemos State Champion Boy's Ski Team. He won numerous individual honors for his skiing abilities.
Scott married Jenniefer Johnston 6 June 1992 but the couple later divorced. He had graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1985 and joined Spalding family business operations. Scott battled diabetes and succumbed to complication 12 March 2018, East Jordon, Charlevoix County, Michigan.

SCOTT SPALDING -- age 55, passed away unexpectedly at his East Jordan, MI home from complications of diabeties, March 12, 2018.
Beloved son of John and Mary Ellen (Doyle) Spalding, was born on May 14th, 1962 in Lansing, MI. He grew up in Okemos and graduated from Okemos High School (1980). He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Northern Michigan University in 1985. In his professional life, he was an entrepreneur and executive partner in the family businesses; S&S Contracting and Ace Rug Cleaning in Lansing.
Scott was an integral part of his family and a steadfast friend to many. He was passionate about skiing, snowboarding, boating, fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He spent treasured time living on Torch Lake and Lake Charlevoix.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Ellen (Doyle) Spalding. He is survived by brother Steve Spalding (Carolyn Spence), sisters Sue (Bill) Keiser and Sally ( Philip) Clark. Nieces and nephews; Drake and Cole Spalding, Megan and Matt Keiser, and Katie, Kevin and Connor Clark. Along with his cherished pets Tramp, Biggy, Shadow and Boo Boo (Fatty Pants).
A celebration of his life is planned at Coral Gables (Back entrance) in East Lansing from 1-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24th, 2018. The family has honored his request for cremation.
