Jeffrey (Jeff) Scott Wendt, PhD of Mason, Michigan, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 18th, 2025 in an auto accident.

He was born in Southfield, Michigan, on December 20, 1971, to Thomas and Patricia (Boyle) Wendt. He graduated from Okemos High School in 1990 and went on to Eastern Michigan University, followed by Hillsdale College. Jeff earned a Master's degree at East Carolina University and a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Wayne State University. After working for the State of Michigan, Jeff owned and ran a successful forensic psychology practice and was very respected in his field, with clients in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

Jeff met Aly Deitrick in his freshman year of high school and they were married on July 8, 1995 at St. Martha's Church. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this summer. Together they raised three wonderful children: two sons, Jack and Rory, and one daughter, Zoe. His wife and children were the center of Jeff's world!

Jeff, sometimes known as "Jazzy Jeff", loved the game of basketball and played at Okemos High School ("When the rim is bent, look for Wendt!") as well as for Eastern Michigan University and Hillsdale College. He was co-captain for his teams at Okemos High School and at Hillsdale College. Jeff coached his children in their younger years and would rarely miss a game.

Remaining to cherish Jeff's memory are his wife and children; his parents, Tom and Pat; siblings, Tom (Annie) Wendt, Dan (Julie) Wendt, and Rory (Bill) Hampp; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jeff was preceded in death by; Sandy Deitrick, Bob Deitrick, Kathy Wendt, David VanZant, Cindy Novell, and John and Irene Boyle.

A Funeral Mass will be held, Friday, August 29, at 11am at St Thomas Aquinas Parish (955 Alton Rd, East Lansing, Mi 48823). The family will receive relatives and friends, Thursday, August 28, from 4-7pm with a time of sharing at 7pm at the East Lansing Chapel of Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home (1730 E Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823) and also from 10-11am Friday at church. A lunch will follow the Mass.
