Sarah J. Clay, daughter of Tom and Marge Clay, was born 14 August 1972, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1991 from Okemos High School and went on to further her education at Eastern Michigan University.  Sarah, a single parent, was a teacher at Haslett Middle School until debilitating migraine headaches forced her resignation.  Sarah suffered a cerebral hemorrhage along with migraines,  Her death, 24 December 2005, was due to cardiac arrest.  She left behind her beloved young daughter, Marjie.

Sarah Clay

Clay, Sarah J.; Williamston, MI Born August 14, 1973 in Lansing, Michigan. After more than three years of serious illness, Sarah died suddenly of cardiac arrest early Christmas Eve. She was 31 years old. Sarah was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and taught science at Haslett Middle School for 2 1/2 years. A lifetime resident of the Lansing area, Sarah graduated from Okemos High School in 1991 and was a member of the SOMEKO singers and preformed in numerous high school theatrical productions. She continued singing in college and was a member if the all-university singers and Pi Beta Phi Sorority at Ohio State University before transferring to Eastern Michigan. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Arthur T. Clay and grandparents, Martha M. and Andrew M. Lindsay. She leaves behind the light of her life, her daughter, Marjie Clay of Williamston; parents, Tom and Marge Clay of Williamston; sister, Julie (Bill) Gislason of Kansas City, KS; brothers, Andy (Debbie) Clay of Williamston and Peter (Christine) Clay of Ashville, NC; grandmother, Helen R. Clay of Goshen, IN; six nieces and three nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 28, 11:00 AM at the Presbyterian Church of Okemos, 2268 Bennett Road, Okemos with the Rev. Dr. Robert T. Carlson, Jr., pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends for a Memorial visitation at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing Monday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the College Education Fund for her daughter, Marjie, c/o Standard Federal Bank.
