Sherrie Paty (Barber) (1966)

Starr and Margaret Keeler were very close friends with my parents. Back in 1959 my father's business, Paty's Auto Parts, out on what was then Cavanaugh Road (now Jolly & Okemos Road corner), burned to the ground. It was a spectacular fire. We were in church when the fire chief came and literally took Dad out of the service. Anyway, when Dad was rebuilding the place Starr Keesler, on a Saturday, came to the shop in work clothes, climbed a ladder and spent a day nailing shingles on the roof with my Dad. That act cemented a deep friendship that lived for decades until Starr and Margaret's deaths. My parents dearly loved the Keeslers. Starr, if I remember right, was a big wig at MSU - maybe secretary to the president. He was also a loyal and faithful friend to our family
