Gary Lee Hodges, son of Karl Bernerd (1915-1999) and Virginia Rose (Ackerman) (1917-2002) Hodges, was born 7 December 1938 in Michigan and graduated in 1957 from Okemos High School.  Gary had one sibling, Linda, who was a 1962 OHS graduate.

Gary married, in June 1961, Mary Katherine Lyday in the Alumni Memorial Chapel on the Michigan State University campus.  He graduated from MSU a year later with a BA in marketing.  According to his friend Jack Weiss, Gary was employed as a sales representative for a major paper manufacturer in the Chicago area.

Gary died 12 January 2008.
