Edward Wall "Ted" Carpenter, son of William Franklin (1905-1994) and Eunice M. (Allen) (1912-2001) was born 22 Feb 1945 in Lake City, Missaukee County, Michigan. He was a member of the Class of 1965 at Okemos High School.

Ted was killed in a horrendous 2 car accident. The accident took place at the corner of College and Cavanaugh Roads on Saturday 9 February 1963. Two cars loaded with young people returning from parties, in opposite directions, collided. Ted was thrown from the wreckage. The lone witness, in a third car, had to drive to a MSU dairy barn to telephone for help. Lansing State Journal headlines stated:

Age 17, died Saturday in Ingham County. He was born Feb. 22, 1945, in Lake City, Mich. and was a student at Okemos High School. Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Carpenter; 3 brothers, Merlin and Dorman both of Lansing and Robert of Mason. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas A. Smith of the Michigan Ave. Methodist Church officiating.
Ted was interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos, Ingham County.
