Daniel E. Wilkins

Lansing

73, of Lansing. Born June 29, 1943 to Dale and Gladys Wilkins. Big brother to Leota (Gary) Firestone and Michael (Karla) Wilkins. Dan was raised on the Wilkins Centennial Farm in Okemos. He Graduated from Okemos High School in 1962 and enlisted in the army that same year. He married Nancy Baker in 1963 and served in the army through 1965. After serving his country, Dan became a Journeyman Electrician. He worked for Thee Electric for 37 years, retiring in December of 2015. Dan was the beloved father of Jennifer and Jerrod Wilkins and was a hard working, easy-going, patient, fun-loving man. He enjoyed photography, golfing, model trains, and vacationing on cruise ships. Dan, curious by nature, learned by observing others. He built additions on his home in Lansing and completed countless projects with his best friend Jim Beecham.

Dan was a devoted husband of 53 years and a role model for his children, Grandsons Corben (Nicole) Wilkins, Coy (Cathy) Wilkins, Granddaughters Sloane and Merren and his Great Grandchildren Emmalyn, Wyatt and Jackson. Dan, the man you could always count on, the silly prankster and cancer fighter died on June 8, 2017. His spark will live on in the hearts and minds of those he loved and who loved him in return.

A memorial of Dan’s life will be celebrated this fall in Pentwater MI, his favorite vacation spot. Celebrate Dan’s legacy by donating to: Hospice House of Mid Michigan, 1210 W Saginaw St, Lansing, MI 48915
