Ruth Louise Holloway, daughter of Leonard E. (possibly Eli Leonard) (1890-1963) and Lena L. (Whitehead) (1891-1984) Holloway, was born 17 December 1924 Sharp County, Arkansas. She graduated from Okemos High School in 1942. Ruth was elected, September 1941, secretary of the high school band.

HOLLOWAY - Pvt. Ruth Holloway, who is serving with the Army air forces at Presidio, San Francisco, Cal., paid a recent visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Holloway, 4410 South road, East Lansing.
Ruth served from 28 February 1945 until honorable discharge 7 February 1947. She married George William "Bill" Barnard. Ruth died 6 March 1980 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan and was interred Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Ingham County.

Age 55, died March 6, 980. Mrs. Barnard was born Dec. 17, 1924 in Arkansas and had resided in Lansing all her of her life. She worked for the Dept. of Military Affairs and was a member of the Nuwarine Post #535 American Legion, and a member of the Vivians BPOE Lodge #196. She served with the Women's Army Corps for 2 1/2 years. Surviving is her husband Bill, 2 sons, William Bradley Barnard, and Curtis H. Barnard, 1 daughter, Rebecca L. Peltier, mother, Mrs. Lena L. Holloway, 3 brothers, Donald A. Holloway, Rev. Max L. Holloway and Dr. Hugh H. Holloway. 2 sisters, Arneal Kart and Joann Lewis, 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Mon. 1 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Lansing Chapel with the Rev. H. James Birdsall of the Calvary United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
