Metha Katherine "Kate" Trute (Caruso) - Class Of 1941

Metha Katherine "Kate" Trute, daughter of Harry Otto (1897-1976) and Cornelia Wigerdina Stob(e) (Wolf) (1903-1964) Trute, was born 3 June 1923 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1941 from Okemos High School.

Katherine Trute, Okemos high school girl, competed Tuesday at the Farmers' Week drum major contest.  Miss Trute is one of the drum majors for the local high school band.

Okemos, June 6 - The high honors in scholarship were divided between a boy and a girl in the Okemos senior class this year.

Miss Katherine Trute, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Trute on Cavanaugh road, rated second highest in the class and gave the salutatory Thursday evening at the commencement program.  "Kate" as she is known among her friends, has taken an active part in many school activities, was drum major in the band and also holds a part-time job at the Grettenberger pharmacy.

Kate married Filippo Roberto Caruso, aka Philip Robert Caruso, a 1924 Italian immigrant to the United States.  Philip was born 8 February 1907 and died 8 January 1983 Alameda County, California.  He was interred next to his mother, Rose, in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Hayward, Alameda County.

As an adult Kate went by her formal name of Metha.  She died 1 July 1977 Palo Alto, Santa Clara County, California.  Metha was interred Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, Hayward, Alameda County.

METHA CARUSO

Fremont - Metha K. Caruso of Fremont died Friday at the age of 54.

A native of Michigan, Mrs. Caruso is survived by her children, Dawn Cassey, Celeste Lusher and Philip Caruso Jr., all of Fremont.  She is also survived by a brother and sister, Chuck Trute and Joan Coglianese of Fremont, and three grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward.  Burial will follow at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park.  Visitation will begin today at 5 p.m.
