Jean Charles Stack, son of Dorr Edwin (1893-1974) and Verla (Sharpe) (1898-1925), was born 30 August 1920 Wexford County, Michigan. Jean's mother succumbed to pneumonia when he was very small and his father remarried. Jean was called "Charles" or "Charley" in school, later going by his formal first name. He graduated in 1940 from Okemos High School.
Jean entered the US Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945.

On 3 August 1944 Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan, Jean married 1940 OHS classmate Barbara Ann VanHalst. Unfortunately the marriage ended in divorce 28 April 1951 Ingham County. Jean lived in the Grand Rapids, Kent County area for many years. He died 11 January 1980 Grand Rapids. He was interred Fairplains Cemetery, Kent County.
