Wayne D. Parish (Class President) - Class Of 1939

Wayne D. Parish, son of Ezra Frank (1893-1956) and Mary Marie Ann (Stock) (1895-1969) Parish, was born 24 September 1920.  Wayne graduated in 1939 from Okemos High School.  He married OHS classmate Shirley Treadwell 25 January 1942 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  Wayne was a US Navy veteran of World War II.

PARISH - Word has been received that Wayne D. Parish has been promoted to fireman, first class, in the United States navy.  He has been in the Panama Canal Zone since last December after having enlisted in the navy September 22, 1942.  His wife, the former Shirley Treadwell, resides with his husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Parish, North Hagadorn road, East Lansing.  Fireman Parish is a graduate of Okemos high school.

PARISH - Wayne D. Parish, motor machinist mate, third class of the United States navy, was recently home on a 30-day leave after spending 16 months in foreign service.  He has not returned to Norfolk, Va., to await further assignment.  Wayne is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Parish of North Hagadorn road, East Lansing, and the husband of Mrs. Shirley Parish of the same address.

Age 61, died Aug. 18, 1982.  Born Sept. 24, 1920 in Lansing.  Mr. Parish was a lifelong resident of East Lansing and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church since 1941.  He was an employee of the East Lansing Post Office for 33 years and a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Navy 4 1/2 years.  Surviving are his wife, Shirley A.; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ken (Candy) Kelts of Harrison, Mrs. Bob (Renee) Little and Mrs. Jerry (Monica) Koblinski both of Lansing; 5 sons, Dale (Jackie) Parish of Mason, Michael (Nancy) Parish, Greg( Peg) Parish both of Lansing, Jeff of Muskegon and David of East Lansing; 10 grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Frank (Eleanor) Paulos of Traverse City.  The Mass of Christian burial will be held Sat. 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church 955 Alton Rd.; East Lansing with the Right Rev. Msgr. Jerome V. MacEachin Pastor Emeritus officiating.  Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Shirley, born 9 September 9, 1920 Lansing, died 17 October 2001.  Both Wayne and Shirley were interred St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing.
