Una Belle Spaulding (Hoke) - Class Of 1939

Una Belle Spaulding, daughter of Oscar Orlando (1863-1924) and Emily (Wood) (1884-1954) Spaulding, was born 19 September 1920 Ingham County, Michigan.  Una's father died of cancer when she was 3 and her mom never remarried.  Una graduated from Okemos High School in 1939.

SHOWER IS GIVEN FOR BRIDE-ELECT

Mrs. Joseph Galbvi entertained at a shower at the home of her mother, Mrs. P. T. Holey of Okemos Friday evening in honor of Miss Unabelle Spaulding, who is to become the bride of Harold Hoke of Okemos on March 23.  Spring flowers were used throughout the rooms of the home.  Prizes for games were won by Mrs. Robert Robinson and Mrs. Edith Spaulding.  Eighteen guests were present.

Una and Harold Joseph Hoke married 23 March 1940 Okemos.  Harold, born 29 May 1918, was a World War II Navy veteran and retired from Motor Wheel Corporation.  He died 4 July 1990.  Una died 31 January 2008.  Harold and Una were interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

UNA BELLE (SPAULDING) HOKE

OKEMOS, MI

Age 87, died Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Burcham Hills Health Center.  Una was born September 19, 1920 on a farm in Locke Township, MI, where her parents Oscar and Emily (Wood) Spaulding worked.  After her father's death in 1924 she moved to Okemos, MI with her family in 1925.  She and her family were active members of the First Baptist Church of Okemos.  She was the longest living member of the church to date.  One March 23, 1940 Una married Harold J. Hoke, and together they shared 50 years, until his death July 4, 1990.  Una was also an active member of Okemos Pioneer Ladies prior to moving into Burcham Hills.  She is survived by her loving children, Carol Ann (Robert) Dunn of East Lansing, MI, Dale Hoke of Palm Springs, CA and Ruth (Jerry) Redding of Fredricksburg, VA; 6 grandchildren, Nathalie, Emily, Kathryn, Joanne, Jerry II and Vicki; and 7 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing with Pastor Joe Dabrowksi of First Baptist Church of Okemos officiating.
