Sibyl Tenny (Torok) - Class Of 1939

Sibyl Tenny, daughter of Ralph W. (1894-1975) and Lina M. (Willett) (1895-1971) Tenny, was born 1 November 1920 Michigan.  She graduated from Okemos High School in 1939.  Sibyl married John Torok, born 21 February 1925 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  John, a US Army World War II veteran, served in the armed forces from 1943-1945.

Sergeant John Torok, who is now spending a 3-day furlough with his parents, served overseas 19 months with the 30th infantry division of the Ninth army.  He participated in the campaigns of Normandy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany.  He wears five battle stars, Purple Heart, combat infantry badge, and good conduct medal.  He entered the service in August, 1943.  Following his visit here, he will report to Camp Grant, Ill.

A table centerpiece of pastel spring flowers at the home of Miss Marguerite Jacobus, 1716 Davis ave., formed the decorations for a luncheon shower honoring Miss Sybil Tenny, who is to marry John Torok, My 14, and Miss Wanda Guest, bride-elect of Temple Tenny June 10.

A crystal gift was presented to each of the honored girls by the guests who were Mrs. Jay Hinkle, Mrs. Malcolm Cronk, Mrs. Elfreda Jacobus, Ms. Clifford Ross, Mrs. Ralph Tenny, Mrs. Stephen Torok, Jr., Miss Dolores Bos and Miss Lina May Tenny.

John died 25 September 1998 Manatee County, Florida.  Sibyl died 14 March 2013.  John and Sibyl were interred Altona Cemetery, Altona, Mecosta County, Michigan.
