Betty Anna Wilson (Linhart) - Class Of 1939

Betty Anna Wilson, daughter of Hiram Edward (1885-1951) and Lena (Emery - Cole) (1885-1934) Wilson, was born 12 May 1921 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  Betty Anna's mother succumbed to Hodgkin's Disease.  According to her death certificate her maiden name was Emery.

WIFE OF RISK FIRM EXECUTIVE SUCCUMBS

Mrs. Lena Wilson, 49, wife of H. E. Wilson, assistant secretary of the Michigan Millers Mutual Fire Insurance company, died at the home in Okemos Thursday morning.

In addition to the husband, Mrs. Wilson is survived by four children, Roland, Wallace, Betty Anna, and Donald; the mother, Mrs. Anna Cole of Oxford, and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Cole and Miss Myrtle Cole, both of Oxford.

The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral home.  The Rev. C. M. Mullenburg will officiate.  Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.  The body will remain at the Wilson home in Okemos until time for the funeral.

Hiram Edward Wilson remarried 8 August 1935 Mrs. Madeline M. Parmalee.  Madeline had three children and so the Wilson-Parmalee children were blended into one family.

Betty Anna graduated in 1939 from Okemos High School.  In 1944 the Wilson family lost a son and brother when Don, also a graduate of Okemos high, was killed in Italy.

Betty married Maynard Frank Linhart 19 January 1946 Lansing.  Maynard served in the US Army during World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Tec 4 in 1945.

MISS WILSON, MR. LINHART REPEAT VOWS

Tapers in tall wrought iron candelabras, palms, ferns and spring flowers were the setting for the marriage of Miss Betty Anna Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Wilson, 1407 West Shiawassee street, and Maynard F. Linhart, son of H. E. Linhart of Sunfield, Saturday afternoon in Westminster Presbyterian church.  Rev. C. M. Mullenburg read the service before 50 guests.

The bride, gowned in brocaded satin made in the princess style with a long train, wore a finger tip veil of net edged in lace which was held in place with a tiara of orange blossoms.  She carried a white prayer book topped with an orchid.

Miss Lydia Ann Tomek attended the bride gowned in blue organdy.  Her blue net veil was held in place with yellow chrysanthemums.  She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow carnations and "mums" tied with blue ribbons.  Oswald Linhart of Sunfield was groomsman, and Harold Peabody of Sunfield and Arthur Smith seated guests.  Mrs. Harold Paige was at the organ during the ceremony.

Following the wedding a reception was held in the church parlors.  serving the tiered cake was Mrs. Phillip Ray, and Mrs. Ron Wilson of Detroit and Mrs. Wallace Wilson poured.  After a wedding trip in Chicago, Ill., the newlyweds will make their home in Sunfield February 1.

Betty Anna died 23 September 1992 Augusta, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  Maynard died 14 December 2000.  Maynard and Betty Anna were interred Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Kalamazoo County.

BETTY A. LINHART

AUGUSTA

Betty A. (Wilson) Linhart, 71 of Augusta, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1992 at home.

Mrs. Linhart was born May 12, 1921, in Lansing to Hiram and Lena (Cole) Wilson.

She graduated from high school in Lansing and then trained at Children's Hospital in Detroit to become a governess.

She had worked in kitchens at the former Gary's Restaurant in Augusta, the Fontbonne Manor at Nazareth College and Springhill Manor in Battle Creek.

She was active in Bluebirds and 4-H.  She had worked as a volunteer for the Red Cross Auxiliary, and was a former member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and Women of the Moose 676 in Marshall.

Mrs. Linhart enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting.

She married Maynard F. "John" Linhart on Jan. 19, 1946.  He survives.

Also surviving are daughters, Dianna M. Bell of Battle Creek and Cheryl A. Colvin of Auguss; foster children, Mark and Paul Haire of Germany and Todd Haire and Stacey Haire of Battle Creek; six grandchildren, seven foster grandchildren, brother, Wally Wilson of Ontario, N. Y., and Ron Wilson of Seattle; a stepbrother, Don Parmalee of Oregon; and stepsisters, Donna Jahnke of Portland, Ore., and Pat Parmelee of Florida.

Services; 1:30 p.m. Friday at Farley-Estes Augusta Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Whitesell officiating.

Burial: Fort Custer National Cemetery.
