Donald Downing McNitt, son of Ralph Voeste (1885-1961) and Lynde Deleta (Downing) (1885-1966) McNitt, was born 2 March 1919 Nashville, Barry County, Michigan. Donald was a twin to Douglas. Donald and Douglas graduated in 1938 from Okemos High School.
Donald was a US Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He married Doris Elaine Sebrell 11 May 1946 Okemos, Ingham County. They divorced.
Donald died 29 April, 1999 and was interred East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos.

Born March 2, 1919, at home in Nashville, MI; died April 29, 1999 at the age of 80. Mr. McNitt was a life-long resident of Meridian Township and graduated from Okemos High School in 1938. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army, and was the owner and operator of Burcham Construction Company. Surviving are his 4 daughters, Margaret Arnett of East Lansing, Barbara Harmon of Lansing, Dr. Denise (Kevin Switzer) McNitt of Cumberland, ME, and Jan (Timothy Fenno) McNitt of Stephenville, TX; former wife, Doris E. McNitt of Falmouth, ME; 6 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 2 brothers, Ralph (Jean) of Williamston and Douglas (Carol) of Haslett; and 1 sister, Dr. Patricia Spross. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 1, 3 p.m. in East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos, with the Rev. Ron Arnett of Holt Assembly of God officiating.
