Glendon “Glen” Davis Gustafson, 85, of Geneseo, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center – Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m., prior to the visitation, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to St. Malachy Catholic Church.

Glen was born August 28, 1938, the son of Glendon Carl and Ella Amelia Emma (Davis) Gustafson, in Minneapolis, MN.  He graduated high school and went on to attend Michigan State University from 1956 – 1960, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting, and was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity.  On January 12, 1963, Glen married Mary Vandemore.  He was employed by Arthur Andersen & Co. Accounting Firm, Chicago, from 1960- 1964.  He earned his CPA on September 16, 1970.  From 1964 – 1997, he was employed at Deere & Company – Moline as a financial executive.  He was elected by the board of directors in 1981 as Corporate Comptroller, and subsequently Director of Business Planning where his final responsibility was leading the business relationship with the PGA and establishing the TPC Deere Run.  Glen was First Ward Alderman in Geneseo in the early 1970’s, Professional Accounting Council at the University of Iowa from 1982 – 1984, Hammond Henry Hospital Board from 1985 – 1991 and Board President from 1988 – 1991, National Council of Advisors at Bradley University’s Foster College of Business Administration in 1997, and the Geneseo Police Pension Board from 1999 – 2010.  His hobbies included golf and poker where he incredibly had five hole in ones and drew a natural royal flush.  Glen and Mary enjoyed traveling to Tuscon, AZ in the winter, golfing together, and going out to eat every Saturday evening after mass.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Mary Gustafson; children, Glen Thomas (Susan) Gustafson, Ann Marie (Thomas) Heller, and Thomas Alan (Kimberly) Gustafson; grandchildren, Abigail (Benjamin) Young, Elizabeth (Tyler) Timmerman, Jonathan Gustafson, Lucille Gustafson, Meghan Gustafson, Emma Gustafson, and Ella Gustafson; great-grandchildren, Noah Timmerman, Henry Timmerman, Lorelei Timmerman, Margaret Young, Charlotte Young, Olivia Young, and Logan Young, brothers; John (Sue) Gustafson and David Gustafson.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Glendon Carl and Ella Gustafson.
