Roger Nelson Foerch - Class Of 1939

Roger Nelson Foerch, son of Marshal Leroy (1897-1963) and Leila Miriam (Young) (1900-1994) Foerch, was born 20 September 1921 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  He graduated from Okemos High School in 1939.

A wedding of interest to local people was that of Miss Edith Hilbert, Traverse City and Roger Foerch, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Foerch of Okemos.  The marriage was solemnized at the bride's maternal grandparents' home near Traverse City on the evening of June 23 in the presence of 30 relatives and friends.  She was attended by Miss Lois Foerch which the groom had as his attendant Clifford Lettick of St. Louis.

The young couple are now at home at 131 Elmwood avenue, Traverse City.  Mr. Foerch is employed by the Farm Bureau at the Farmers' Cooperative in Traverse City.

Roger married Edith Mae Hilbert, daughter of James and Edith (Draper) Hilbert, 23 June 1942.  Roger joined the US Navy 2 September 1942 and was honorably discharged 29 October 1945.

Mrs. Roger Foerch and infant son, of Traverse City, are at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Foerch.  Her husband is second Class Seaman Roger Foerch.

FOERCH - Roger Foerch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshal Foerch, Route 2, Lansing, was recently promoted to petty officer, second class, with the signal corps of the navy.  He is aboard a destroyer somewhere in the Atlantic.  Foerch was graduated from Okemos high school, and was a student at Michigan State college at the time he enlisted in September 1942.

Roger and Edith had 5 children.  Unfortunately their youngest, a daughter age 4 months, died suddenly in 1949.

Roger for many years was employed with Michigan Farm Bureau.  He had a second career with the National Onion Association.

ROGER FOERCH

WILLIAMSTON, MI

Born September 20, 1921, in Lansing; joyously went to be with his Lord on July 28, 2006, at the age of 84.  Roger graduated from LCC with an Associate's Degree.  He was the Executive Vice President for the National Onion Growers Association and a licensed Baptist Minister.  Surviving are his wife, Edith; daughter, Denise Foerch of Colorado; sons, Craig (Vickie) Foerch of Williamston, Reg (Deborah) Foerch of Lansing and Rodney (Pat) Foerch of California; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Richard (Barb) Foerch of Chicago, IL; and sister, Lois (Glen) McCann of North Carolina.  A service in celebration of our husband and father being ushered into the presence of his Lord will be held on Monday, July 31, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Okemos, 4684 Marsh Rd., Okemos, with Pastor Joe Dabrowski officiating.  Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing.

Edith, born 19 March 1926 Michigan, died 11 September 2009 in Ingham County.  Roger, Edith and infant daughter, Juanice, were interred Deepdale Cemetery, Eaton County, Michigan.
