Navy Ensign Michael Joseph Farrell, son of Joseph and Sandra J. (Karalash) Farrell, was born 18 October 1959 Dearborn, Wayne County, Michigan. He graduated in 1977 from Okemos High School, graduated in 1983 from Western Michigan University and in 1984 was commissioned to the rank of Ensign in the US Navy. Ensign Farrell died 21 October 1985 Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas and was interred, with military honors, Glendale Cemetery, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan.

Age 26, died October 21, 1985 in TX. Born October 18, 1959 in Dearborn. Ensign Farrell was a graduate of Okemos High School (1977), and received a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors from Western Michigan University (1983), and participated in high school and college athletics. Ensign Farrell ws ordered to Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Pensicola, FL in Ocobter, 1984 and was commissioned an Ensign in February, 1985. He was sited for outstanding academic achievement while at Pensicola. Upon completion of OCS, he was assigned to the Naval Air Station at Corpus Christi, TX where he completed Primary and Intermediate Flight Training. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Josseph (Sandra) of Okemos; 2 brothers, David and siter-in-law, Merry and thier son, Derek Joseph of Lansing, James of Okemos; grandmother, Mrs. Helen Karalash of Okemos. Funeral services will be held Friday, 10 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman East Chjapel, East Lansing with the rev. Thomas Neenau
