Cloyce Ellwood Fulton - Class Of 1943

Cloyce Ellwood Fulton

Cloyce Ellwood Fulton, son of Lloyd Jay (7 Sept 1902-13 March 1978) and Neva P. (Hibbs) (21 Jan 1905-4 Oct 1994) Fulton, was born 16 August 1924 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  He graduated in 1943 from Okemos High School and joined the US Navy where he served until honorable discharge in 1945.  Cloyce died 16 August 1946 of injuries sustained during a train-auto accident in Lansing.  He was interred Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing.

2ND CRASH VICTIM DIES

CLOYCE E. FULTON, 22, NAVY VETERAN HURT AS TRAIN HIT CAR, SUCCUMBS

The second fatality resulting from a car and train accident Wednesday at Farm Lane crossing and the Grand Trunk railroad on Michigan state college property, was recorded here late Friday night when another navy veteran succumbed to injuries.  Cloyce Ellwood Fulton, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd J. Fulton, 6019 Gibson street, Towar Gardens, died at Edward W Sparrow hospital at about 11 o'clock. He had suffered critical injuries when a car which, authorities said he presumably was driving, skidded into the path of a Grand Trunk freight train.  Robert Edward Fedewa, 19, of 750 Clayton street, also a recently discharged sailor, was instantly killed in the crash.  Funeral services were held for young Fedewa here Saturday morning.

 

ENLISTED AFTER GRADUATION

Fulton graduated from Okemos high school in 1943 and enlisted in the navy in June of that year.  He was discharged March 6, with the rating of motor machinist mate first class, with medals from the Asiatic-Pacific American area, and the Victory medal.  Beside the parents, he is survived by a brother, Larry; two sisters, Alyce and Joyce, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Fulton of East Lansing.

Funeral services will be held from the Gorsline-Runciman funeral home Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock with Rev. H. G. Paige officiating.  Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
