Dorr Almiron Hudson - Class Of 1943

Dorr Almiron Hudson, son of Ralph S. (1884-1968) and Lottie N. (Daniels) (1887-1968) Hudson, was born 4 March 1925 East Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan. He graduated in 1943 from Okemos High School and in the same year joined the US Navy. Upon honorable discharge from Naval service Dorr was classified MOMM3.

Dorr married OHS '43 classmate Jean Marie Sussex 20 June 1944 Okemos, Ingham County. Together they raised a family of 4 sons. Jean, born 16 December 1924, was the oldest of 17 children. She died 12 April 2002. Dorr died 27 March 2009 Sarasota County, Florida. Dorr and Jean were interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

Dorr A. Hudson, age 84, passed on March 27, 2009 he was born March 4, 1925 to Ralph and Lottie Hudson of Okemos, MI. Dorr was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom; wife of 57 years, Jean M. Hudson; great-grand-daughter, Alyssa; and stepdaughter, Jane Murdock. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Ann" Ross-Hudson; four sons, Thomas (Doris), Frederick, Ronald (Karen), Peter (Rhonda); grandchildren, Sonya (Joe), Ryan (Arlone), Joanne (Chris), Tracy (Mark), Richard (Katie), Karl, and Bridget; great-grandchildren, Christine, Levi, Kaeley, Amanda, Donovan, and Avery; stepchildren, Scott (Margo) Ross, Connie (Bob) Schultz, Rick Murdock; and step-grandchildren, Glenn (Julie) Ross and Tamara Ross. Mr. Hudson was a graduate of Okemos High School followed by service in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving on a Patrol Craft Submarine Chaser in the Mediterranean. Dorr worked for many years at the Okemos Lumber Company followed by a lengthy career at Double Day Brothers Business Interiors, where he eventually retired. Mr. Hudson was a longtime member of Holt United Methodist Church. During his retirement he was proud to be a volunteer and active participant in the planning and expanding of the Meridian Historic Village. He loved spending time with family and friends, including the many gatherings at the Hudson Farm.
