Charlotte Ann Warren (Hidy) - Class Of 1943

Charlotte Ann Warren, daughter of Clare Forsyth (1886-1062) and Lulu Madge "Madge" (Deland) (1891-1972) Warren, was born 16 February 1925 Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  Charlotte's father, Clare, was a World War I veteran serving as Corporal 5th Military Police Corps in both France and Germany.

Charlotte was a 1943 graduate of Okemos High School.  She married Eugene Orton Grainger 1 January 1944 Okemos, Ingham County.  They divorced 2 May 1946 Ingham County.  Eugene, born 5 March 121, died 5 February 1993.

Charlotte wed Ralph Bruce "Bruce" Hidy on 28 January 1950 Okemos.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bruce Hidy To Take Up Residence in Lansing

After a two weeks' honeymoon trip through Florida and New York, Mr. and Mrs. R. Bruce Hidy will be at home at 2115 Donora st.

The couple exchanged vows Jan. 28 in Okemos Community church with Rev. Harold A. Jayne officiating.

The new Mrs. Hidy was the former Miss Charlotte W. Grainger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clare Warren of Hatch rd., Okemos.  The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hidy, of Martin rd., Potterville.

Mrs. Nancy J. LaFarge was matron of honor for her sister.  R. Jacques Warren, brother of the bride, was groomsman.  Guests were seated by David Smith and George Warren, brother of the ride.

Miss Christine Bennett sang nuptial songs, accompanied by Miss Phyllis McAllan at the piano.

The bride wore an ivory crepe gown fashioned with an overskirt of fine patterned luggage tone lace with matching hat and shoes.  Her flowers was a corsage of pink roses.

Mrs. LaFaage wore a navy blue faille and wore a corsage of pink carnations.

A reception immediately followed the ceremony in the church parlors.  Assisting were Miss Beverly A. Eames, Mrs. Dorr Hudson, Mrs. Douglas McNitt and Mrs. Glen Wilkins.

Charlotte and Bruce were married 56 years before Charlotte died 25 August 2005.  Bruce, born 22 November 1925 Iowa, died 18 August 2014.  Bruce and Charlotte were interred Hillside Cemetery, Delta Mills, Eaton County, Michigan.

HIDY, CHARLOTTE

LANSING, MI

Age 80, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2005.  She was preceded in death by her brother, George Warren.  Charlotte is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ralph Bruce Hidy; daughters, Linda (Chuck) Grettenberger and Loretta (Mike) Pearson; sons, David (Debbie) Hidy and Bryan (Teresa) Hidy; grandchildren, Brenda Grettenberger, Karl (Mary) Grettenberger, Kevin (Christina) Grettenberger, Herman (Samantha) Grettenberger, Rebecca (Steve) Dutcher, William (Rachel) Kremer, Bryan Hidy, Benjamin Hidy, Christina (Anthony) Horn, Landon Hidy, Charles Hidy, David Hidy, Christopher Hidy; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack R. (Marciel) Warren and Bruce Warren; sister, Nancy J. Brandon; and several nieces and nephews.  Charlotte was a member of First United Methodist Church and many of its circles.  She was a Girl Scout leader, loved to bowl and enjoyed cake decorating.  She enjoyed being a grandmother most of all.

Ralph Bruce "Bruce" Hidy, 88, of Lansing, MI passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 surrounded by his family.

Bruce retired with over 30 years of service as a draftsman and Chief Engineer at Lindell Drop Forge. In retirement, he continued to share knowledge and expertise as a consultant on countless projects. Bruce excelled in the industry, and he was one of the top ten in his field honored to be setting American Standards in metallurgy for the industry.

A devoted husband, father, and Christian, Bruce enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his children and their families, always looking for projects and ways to be helpful.

His many hobbies included gardening, patiently restoring antiques, and creating flawless wood furniture for family and friends.

He cared for his beloved wife, Charlotte, during the years of her declining health. As a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, he provided gifts of service for more than a decade, working daily and enjoying camaraderie with the other retired gentlemen as they worked together on small construction and maintenance projects at the church.

Bruce is survived by his 4 children, Linda (Chuck) Grettenberger, Loretta (Mike) Kremer-Pearson, David (Debbie) Hidy, and Bryan (Diane Strong) Hidy; 13 grandchildren Dr. Brenda Grettenberger, Karl (Mary) Grettenberger, Kevin (Julie) Grettenberger, Herman (Samantha) Grettenberger, Rebecca (Steve) Dutcher, William (Rachel) Kremer, Bryan B. Hidy, Benjamin Hidy, Christina (Fiancé, Nolan) Horn, Landon Hidy, Charles Hidy, David Hidy, and Christopher Hidy; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Charlotte A. Hidy in 2005; his parents, Ralph & Iva Hidy, and his sister, Ruth Hidy.

A memorial service was held Friday, August 22, at the First United Methodist Church, Lansing with Pastor Lori Sykes officiating.
