Knoles last Tuesday received the Freeman medal which is the highest honor the university gives to students.  It is awarded for scholarship, character and qualities of leadership manifested by a senior student.  Thursday evening Knoles was given his degree with the senior class winning a bachelor of science in business administration.  He was ill during the entire commencement week, but would not give up and the appendix broke before he was rushed to the hospital.  Dean A. H. Otis, dean of men at the university, was with the student most of Friday night.

Knoles came to the university from Tombstone where his family has lived for many years and where he was graduated from the local high school.  His father is at present in business in Pomona, California and his mother and another brother are still in Tombstone.
