Evelyn E. Unruh (McNabb) - Class Of 1930

Evelyn E. Unruh, daughter of Henry Cornelius (1884-1975) and Grace Mae (Bolton) (1892-1920) Unruh, was born 23 December 1912 Michigan.  Evelyn was only 7 when she lost her mother.  Her father never remarried.

MRS. HENRY UNRUH DIES AT HOME NEAR HASLETT

Haslett, Nov. 16 - Mrs. Henry Unruh, age 29, died at her farm home near Haslett, Monday morning of heart failure, following a very serious illness of three weeks.  She leaves besides her husband, four small children, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. William Bolton of Haslett, three sisters, Mrs. Robert Fuller, Miss Cecil Bolton of Haslett Mrs. Lawrence Potter of Lansing and one brother Brad of Haslett.

Funeral services will be held at the house Wednesday at 1 o'clock.  Interment will be made in Okemos cemetery.

Evelyn graduated in 1930 from Okemos High School and went on to receive a teaching degree from Michigan State College.  She married 3 June 1939 Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan, Gerald W. McNabb.

OKEMOS CHURCH SCENE OF RITES

Miss Evelyn E. Unruh, daughter of Henry C. Unruh of Okemos and Lansing, and Gerald W. McNabb of Edwardsburg, son of Mr. and Mrs. William McNabb, also of Edwardsburg, were married Saturday afternoon in the Okemos community church.

The Rev. Myron Hoyt, pastor at the church, performed the ceremony before an altar lighted with white tapers in candelabra, and banked with palms and ferns.

The bride wore pink chiffon designed with a full skirt and high waist line and carried Johanna Hill roses and carnations.  Her sister and maid of honor, Miss Maxine Unruh, was gowned in blue organdy.  Miss Katheryn Unruh who attended her sister as bridesmaid, wore pale green organdy.  Both attendants carried arm bouquets of roses.

The groomsman was Duane Thornton of Edwardsburg.  Maynard Unruh, brother of the bride, also attended the couple.

Miss Margaret Kelley of Okemos provided music during the srevice.

Members of the immediate family and close friends were guests at a wedding dinner following the service at the Hunt Food shop in East Lansing.  Yellow roses and tapes decorated the table and a wedding cake centered a side table.  For the occasion, Mrs. McNabb, mother of the groom, wore pink crepe, and Mrs. William Bolton, grandmother of the bride, wore pink lace.

The newlyweds are at home at Pleasant Lake, Edwardsburg.  The bride was graduated from Michigan State college and Mr. McNabb attended General Motors Technical school in Flint.

Evelyn taught school for many years.  She died 27 September 1985 Elkart General Hospital, Elkhart, Elkhart County, Indiana.  Gerald, born 13 September 1914, died 16 September 1996.  Gerald and Evelyn were interred Edwardsburg Cemetery, Edwardsburg, Cass County, Michigan.
