Jan Andre Estelle - Class Of 1951 VIEW PROFILE

Jan Andre Estelle, son of Max Everett (1905) and Helen Ella (Russell) (1907-1999) Estelle, was born 7 June 1931, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  Jan's parents, married in 1929, were divorced by 1937 when Helen married Maynard A. Eberly (1908-1977).  Jan was raised by Maynard.  Jan graduated in 1951 from Okemos High School and entered the US Army in November 1951.

Pvt. Jan Estelle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Eberly, Okemos, left Fort Lawton, Seattle, Wash., recently with a replacement division for the Far East Command.  Pvt. Estelle was graduated from Okemos high school in June, 1951, and entered the service last November.  He received his basic training at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky, with the 101st Airborne Infantry division.

 

Jan married Irene Smith, born 21 June 1936, 14 April 1956, Indiana.

FETE NEWLYWEDS AT DINNER PARTY

Newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Jan Estelle, 137 Stoddard ave., East Lansing, were honor guests at a dinner party given by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Smith of Lake Lansing dr.

Guests were the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Eberly of Okemos also Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson of Perry.

Mr. and Mrs. Estelle were married in Angola, Ind., at the Methodist church.  Mrs. Estelle is the former Irene Smith of East Lansing.

 

Jan died 21 January 2012, Rapid City, Kalkaska County, Michigan.

ESTELLE, JAN ANDRE, 80 of Rapid City, formerly of Meridian Township, former firefighter, died Jan. 21.  Memorial services 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of Kalkaska Funeral Home.

Jan, 80, of Rapids, City, MI. formerly of Meridian township, died Saturday at his home. He was the son of the late Max Everett Estelle and Helen Ellen (Russell) Eberly.

Jan served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He also served his community as a Firefighter in Meridian Township near Lansing. Along with his wife Irene, he was the owner of Pick Kwik Foods in Kalkaska for over 20 years.

Jan had a deep love for his family and friends; and always enjoyed his time boating, fishing and snowmobiling.

Besides his loving wife Irene (Smith), Jan is survived by his children Teresa (Theron) Lee and Roxanne (Mark) Findley; grandchildren Brandie, Joel, Whitney, and Eva Findley; siblings Mary Ellen Sheets (Tom Amiss), John Eberly, Norm and his wife Gay Eberly, and Bill (Pat) Estelle, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.

A memorial service was held in Jan's honor on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Chapel of Kalkaska Funeral Home, Kalkaska.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
