Joanne Ruth Chabut, daughter of Hector M. (18999-1986) and Ruth E. (Earle) (1901-1985) Chabut, was born 14 February 1929, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.

Joanne graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Physical Education and Biology.  She married Victor E. Fox 16 December 1950, Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan.  After college graduation Joanne taught for one year, 1952, at Okemos Consolidated Schools.

Victor and Joanne raised three children and were world travelers.  Joanne died 7 January 2005 and was interred Roseland Memorial Gardens, Jackson, Michigan.

Joanne Ruth Fox of Pawling, N. Y. , passed away suddenly on January 7th while returning from a vacation in Antarctica. She was traveling with her husband, Victor Fox, and her daughter, Sharon Fox of Brookfield. She was 75 years old. Mrs. Fox was born in Grand Rapids. Michigan, the daughter of Hector and Ruth Chabut.  She was raised in Jackson, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State University.  She married her husband, Victor Fox in 1950. They lived in Milwaukee, Wis.; Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Madison, Wis.; Minot, N. D.; and Saugerties, N. Y., before moving to Olive Bridge, N. Y., in 1964, where they lived for 33 years.  Joanne Fox was the owner and vice president of Saxon Hill House, Olive Bridge, N. Y., for 25 years. Joanne and Victor Fox moved to Pawling, N. Y., in 1997 and were members of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Her loving family and friends knew her as a very positive person, who was always working on plans for a trip, party or family reunion. She and her husband were extensive travelers and her trip to Antarctica allowed her to see all seven continents. In addition to her husband, Victor Fox, and her daughter, Sharon Fox, she is survived by her brothers: Louis Chabut, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Hector Chabut, Jr. , of Okemus. Mich. ; and Paul Chabut, of North Miami, Florida. Her sister, Jean Hanna passed away in 1995. She is also survived by her son, Steven Fox and his wife Kathy Rowe, and two grandchildren: Laura and Ryan Fox, of Sultan, Washington. She has 13 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews. A niece, Michelle Pisarick and her family live in Brookfield. A memorial service at St. Paul's Church, cremation and interment in Roselawn Cemetery, Jackson, Michigan, will be planned at a later date.
