Edna M. McClure, daughter of Edgar David (1883-1946) and Mabel (Standish) (1884-1959) McClure, was born 17 August 1906, Wheatfield Township, Ingham County, Michigan. She graduated in 1924 from Okemos High School and went on to attend and graduate from Michigan State Normal College with a teaching degree. Michigan State Normal College, now known as Eastern Michigan University, was located in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan. Edna's college choice was known as the premier institution for teachers in Michigan. According to the school's yearbook, Aurora, Edna majored in Math and History, graduating in 1928.
A small article in the Detroit Free Press, Sunday 2 August 1931, listed Edna teaching "primary" at the Michigan Home and Training School. Edna died in 1938, place unknown. Her tombstone is located Knox Cemetery, Ouaquaga, Broome County, New York. Edna's parent's, about 1930, had moved to New York State where her father was state slaughterer inspector in the 12 county Binghamton District, OPA Office. He also operated one of the largest farms in the Windsor, Broome County area.
Edna's parents are also interred in Knox Cemetery.
Edna's youngest brother, Robert, born 1919, died 9 August 1942 in the South Pacific. Robert, who during the 1920's attended Okemos Consolidated, enlisted in the US Army Air Corp in 1941, New York. He and 6 others in the crew of a B-17 bomber were lost during an engagement near Midway Island. Robert and crew members were interred, 14 March 1950, in one grave, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis County, Missouri.
