Marjorie Woodworth (Gill) - Class Of 1927

Marjorie Woodworth, daughter of James Hiram (1883-1966) and Nellie E. (Thompson) (1886-1941) Woodworth, was born 9 April 1910 Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1927 from Okemos High School.

Marjorie married Richard Davis Gill 15 March 1940 Lansing, Ingham County.

Miss Marjorie Woodworth of Okemos, who attends the University of Buffalo, spent the Easter vacation with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Thompson, 1807 Teel avenue.

MISS WOODWORTH WEDS DETROITER

Wearing a street-length frock of delft blue, her accessories in a deeper hue of the same shade, Miss Marjorie Woodworth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Woodworth of Okemos, became the bride of Richard Gill of Detroit Friday evening.  Mr. Gill is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Gill, also of Detroit.

The ceremony was performed at 3 o'clock in the evening at the parsonage of the First Baptist church in this city, with the Rev. Mr. Julius Fischbach reading the service.  The bride's flowers were gardenias and iris.

Miss Phyllis Woodworth attended her sister as maid of honor, wearing for the occasion a dress of tan silk with corsage of pink roses.  Vern Gill of Detroit was his brother's groomsman.

Following the ceremony, a reception was given for 36 guests at the home of the bride's parents in Okemos, after which the couple left for a short honeymoon to Chicago.  Upon their return, Mr. and Mrs. Gill will make their home at 149 Clairmount avenue, Detroit.  Mrs. Gill attended Michigan State college and is a graduate of the University of Buffalo.  Mr. Gill is a graduate of the Detroit schools.

Richard, born 21 October 1914 Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, was a World War II Army veteran.  He rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant. 

Marjorie died 6 June 1989, Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan.  Richard died 4 October 2002, Prince William County, Virginia.  Marjorie and Richard were interred San Francisco National Cemetery, San Francisco County, California, Section OS, Row 140, Site 4.
