Elsie May Greenfield (VanDyke) - Class Of 1925

Elsie May Greenfield (VanDyke)

Elsie May Greenfield, daughter of Frank J. (1877-1959) and Ivy P. (Andrews) (1880-1981), was born 2 February 1907, Clinton County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1925 from Okemos High School.

Elsie married Lynn George VanDyke 31 July 1927, Berrien Springs, Berrien County, Michigan.

VANDYKE-GREENFIELD

Miss Elsie Greenfield, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Greenfield of Wacousta, and Lynne Vandyke, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Vandyke, were quietly married Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church of Berrien Springs.   Rev. W. H. Helregle performed the ceremony which was followed by a luncheon at his home.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Flienor of Three Oaks were the only attendants at the wedding.  Mrs. Vandyke is a graduate of Okemos High school and at present is employed in the office of Beeman & Co.  Mr. Vandyke is connected with the Paragon Oil company.  Following a short trip through northern Michigan the newly married couple will be at home at 1515 1/2 Vermont avenue.

Lynn, born 6 October 1906, was employed at Motor Wheel, Lansing, Ingham County and retired from White Motors, Lansing.  He died 25 August 1989, Chippewa, Mecosta County, Michigan.  Elsie died 13 April 1999, Ingham County.  Lynn and Elsie were interred DeWitt City Cemetery, DeWitt, Clinton County.

VANDYKE, ELSIE

WILLIAMSTON

Our loving mother and grandmother went home to our Lord to be "brand new" on April 13, 1999.  Elsie was born on February 2, 1907 and was a resident of Lansing for many years and Chippewa Lake and, recently of Williamston.  She was formerly employed with Luzier's Cosmetics and Lansing Labor News.  Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn VanDyke; mother and father, Ivy and Frank J. Greenfield; brothers, Francis, Edward and John Greenfield; sisters, Mildred Morton and Sylvia Morris.  Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn (Clifford) Poland; grandchildren Mahnon (Tim) Cline of Williamston, Dan (Teri) Poland of Muscatine, IA, Bill (Tina) Poland of Jackson, Mahala Poland of Williamston; sister, Elizabeth (Clare) Higbee of Mason; brother, Norman (Arlene) Greenfield of Sebring, FL; 9 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Duane F. Allison of Rowley Wesleyan Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 1999 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in DeWitt Cemetery.
