Mae Belle Olin (White) - Class Of 1911

Mae Belle Olin, daughter of Elvin A. (1860-1949) and Mary (Knapp) (1868-1959) Olin, was born 15 May 1895, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan. Mae graduated in 1911 from Okemos High School and went on attend Michigan Agricultural College, MAC.  Mae married Domina Joseph "Don" Lamoureux 19 January 1917, Lansing, Ingham County.

Don, born 19 January 1892 Chatham, Ontario Province, Canada, graduated from MAC in 1918 as a veterinarian.  He was employed as an assistant professor at MAC when he contracted and then succumbed to influenza in the MAC hospital 27 February 1919.  Don was interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to thank the dear friends and neighbors throughout Lansing, East Lansing and Okemos, the Alpha Psi Fraternity, the faculty and students of the veterinary medicine department, the bacteriology department, the class of 1918 of the Michigan Agriculture college and the M. E. church of Okemos for their heart-felt sympathy rendered during our recent loss of our dear father and husband.  Mrs. D. J. Lemoureux and daughter, Hilda Mae, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lamoureux.

Don and Mae had a daughter, Hilda Mae, born 10 April 1918.  In 1919 Mae began a 40 plus year employment career with the East Lansing State Bank.  She retired from there in 1960.

Mae married Joseph B. "Joe" White, a World War I veteran, 23 June 1923, Lansing.  Joe, born 26 March 1897, Michigan, was a plumber by trade. He and Mae had no children but together they raised Hilda Mae.

WHITE-LAMOUREAUX

At 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, in the parsonage of the Mt. Hope Avenue M. E. church, Miss Mate (newspaper error; Mrs. Mae) B. Lamoureaux and Joe B. White, both of East Lansing, were united in marriage by Rev. F. E. George, pastor of the church.

The attendants were Miss Marie E. Waggoner and W. S. Turner.

Joe died 19 December 1968, Lansing.  He and Mae celebrated 45 years together.

WHITE, JOSEPH B.

312 FERGUSON

Age 71, died Thursday at a local hospital.  Born March 26, 1897 in Eaton County.  Mr. White had been a resident of Lansing for 70 years, he attended Peoples Church in East Lansing a retired plumber, veteran of World War I and was awarded a Purple Heart, a life member of 32nd Division of 119th Field Artillery.  Surviving are: the wife Mae B.; one daughter Mrs. Robert Cooper, Grand Rapids; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Rhines, Leslie, Mrs. Veda Fulkerson, Lansing.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Staser of People Church officiating.  Interment in Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

Mae's daughter Hilda Mae graduated from Pattengill High School, Lansing, and went on to graduate in 1940 from Michigan State College.  She married Robert Donald Cooper 8 December 1940, East Lansing, Ingham County.

Mae died 18 June 1975, Lansing.  Mae and Joe were interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

WHITE, MAE B.

FORMERLY OF 312 FERGUSON ST.

Died at a local hospital June 18, 1975.  Born May 15, 1895 in Okemos.  She was a lifelong resident of East Lansing and Okemos.  A member of People Church, a former member of the Zonta Club, a member of the Pinetum Club and formerly employed at the East Lansing State Bank for 41 years retiring in 1960 as an assistant cashier.  She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Hilda) Cooper of Grand Rapids; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Fred R. Olin of New york, Wade H. Olin of Arizona, Jay W. Olin of Florida and Clyde J. Olin of Haslett.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel, East Lansing with Rev. Carl Staser of Peoples Church officiating.  Interment in Glendale Cemetery.

Hilda Mae Lamoureux Cooper died at age 84, 22 January 2003.
