Lorna Jeane McKane, daughter of James (1895-1974) and Irene M. (Purchis) (1898-1978) McKane, was born 1 December 1927, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.  Her father, James McKane, was a World War I Army veteran who served in Russia and in the Polar Bear Expedition at Arkhangelsk, Northern Russia.

The McKane family lost a son during World War II.  Bob McKane, a 1940 Okemos graduate, was a Army Infantry Sergeant who succumbed to wounds, 14 March 1945, during the invasion of the Island of Luzon in the South Pacific.

Lorna graduated in 1945 from Okemos High School.  She married Thomas Griffith, 23 August 1946, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan.

Thomas, a World War II Army veteran, was born 16 April 1923, Michigan.  Thomas became owner and operator of Griffith Drug in Lansing, Michigan from 1952-1962 and later Griffith Drug Store in Holt, Michigan from 1962-1977.  Lorna and Thomas raised 3 children together during their more than 45 years of marriage.  Lorna died 1 August 1993, Ingham County.  Thomas died 14 February 1999.  They were interred together Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

HOLT

Devoted wife, mother and grandmother, age 65, passed away August 1, 1993.  She was born December 1, 1927 in Roseville, MI and had been a resident of Holt for the past 43 years.  She attended Holt United Methodist Church and was a volunteer in many activities in the church; and a member of their Caroline Circle.  Surviving are her husband, Thomas; daughter, Thomene Fisher of Holt; 2 sons, Robert (Denise) Griffith of Grand Junction, CO and Richard (Michelle) Griffith of Holt; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Fisher, Julie, Jason, Tom and Sarah Griffith; sister, Kathleen (Gerald) Klinger of Ocala, FL; niece, Jamie Spellicy; 2 nephews, David and Greg Klinger.  Religious services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 1993 at Holt United Methodist Church, 2321 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt, MI with interment in Glendale Cemetery.
