Ida Mary Strayer (Jennings)

Ida Mary Strayer, daughter of Charles C. (1860-1928) and Melinda Alvina (Kirkpatrick) (1864 Canada - 1932) Strayer, was born 9 September 1909, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1928 from Okemos High School.

March 12 - Ida Strayer, Lavinia Strayer, Orin Grettenberger and Harold Edgar have been neither absent nor tardy from the intermediate room during the winter term.

Ida Mary married John Ernest "Ernie" Jennings 5 October 1929, Wood County, Ohio.  Ida Mary was working as a stenographer in Wood County at the time of her marriage.  They raised two daughters together.  Ernie retired in 1973 after 45 years of service in the Oldsmobile main tool room, Lansing.  Ernie, born 23 May 1908, Michigan, died 28 August 1975, Lansing, Ingham County.

Ida Mary died 3 February 1988, Lansing.  Together Ernie and Ida Mary were interred East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos, Ingham County.

JENNINGS, IDA MARY

HASLETT

Age 78, passed away February 3, 1988.  She was born in Lansing September 9, 1909, raised in Okemos, graduating from Okemos High School.  She lived most of her life in Haslett with her husband, John "Ernie" Jennings, who preceded her in death on August 25, 1978.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was very much loved and will be missed by her 2 daughters, Linda Buehler of Haslett and Yvonne Rogers and son-in-law, Larry Rogers of Okemos; 8 grandchildren, 14 grandchildren, beloved sister and husband, Anna and Charles Piper of Okemos; and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel, East Lansing.  Interment will be in East Lawn Memory Gardens.
