Amos Howard "Howard" McClure, son of Edgar David (1883-1946) and Mable E. (Standish) (1884-1959) McClure, was born 17 July 1910, Michigan. He graduated in 1928 from Okemos High School. Howard participated in Track during his high school years and won a bronze medal at the State Athletic Meet, June 1927, held at Michigan State College. Howard ran a 2:20 on the track for a 3rd place finish.

Howard McClure, member of the 1928 class of the Okemos High school, won second place in the 440-yard dash at the annual Fresh-Soph track meet at Michigan State College.
Howard married Ruth Carver. They had one son and lived for decades in Broome County, New York. Howard's parents and siblings also lived in New York State. Howard died 15 March 1975. Ruth, born 21 September 1914, died 18 September 1999. Howard and Ruth were interred South Windsor Cemetery, Broome County.

MCCLURE - Howard A. McClure of RD 3, McNair Rd., Windsor, was pronounced dead on arrival at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Saturday morning. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth McClure, Windsor; a son, Paul H. McClure, Windsor; three sisters, Mrs. Etha Bateman Windsor, Mrs. Willard (Merna) Allen, Binghamton and Mrs. Neil (Lilas) Collins, Windsor; two brothers, Wayne McClure, Windsor and Merie McClure, Syracuse; two grandchildren, Robert and Cindy McClure, both of Windsor; also several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be held at the William R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 26 Chapel St., Windsor. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
