Dorothy E. Spears (Warren)

Dorothy E. Spears, daughter of Floyd Danforth (1886-1942) and Mabel (Baxter) (1888-1968) Spears, was born 3 September 1909, Jackson County, Michigan.  She graduated in 1928 from Okemos High School.

Dorothy married Howard J. Collins 24 May 1930, Wood County, Ohio.  The couple had 4 children before divorcing.

Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Dorothy Seers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Speers of Jackson, to Howard Collins, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Collins, East Lansing, which took place at Bowling Green, O., last September.  Mrs. Collins has been in training at the W. A. Foote Memorial hospital, Jackson.  Mr. Collins is a member of the class of '31 at Michigan state college and a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

Dorothy married Bert O. Warren 20 August 1939, Jackson County.  The couple had 2 children.

Dorothy's son from her first marriage, Air Force Corporal Edward R. Collins, a member of the 605 1st Tactical Contact Squadron, was a POW during the Korean Conflict. He was captured in May 1951 and was the first war prisoner to be identified as a Michigan resident.  Edward finally came home in 1953.

Dorothy died in 1964.  Bert O. Warren, born 13 March 1913, died 7 August 1987.  They were interred Woodland Cemetery, Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan.
