Bruce Reason Obituary
Bruce E. Reason, 81, of Cle Elum, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2023 with his wife, daughter and son present. A gathering will be held sometime later this year with details to be announced.
Bruce was born on January 29, 1942 in Lansing, Michigan. He served four years in the United States Air Force as part of the SAC Security team. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bruce worked in procurement for California based Rainbird Sprinklers before joining the team of Ralph M. Parsons Company. He eventually worked his way up at Parsons to the role of Senior Buyer, which sent him on many field assignments which included Bellingham and Tacoma, as well as Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Bruce married Mary Ann on August 13, 1988. They bought property in the Cle Elum area in 1989 where they established a home and became permanent residents in 1995. The goal of moving to Cle Elum was to “retire”, but since Bruce was not one to sit idle for very long, he went to work for Safeway in what he called his “retirement job”. He worked at Safeway for nearly 10 years before his “actual retirement”.
Bruce believed in giving back to the community and joined Kiwanis, serving as secretary and president. He was also a member of the Cascade Rail Foundation where he also served as president. He was also committed to maintaining the cemetery circle at Laurel Hill Memorial Park for 21 years, even after he left Kiwanis. His favorite pastimes were wood carving and wood burning.
Bruce is survived by his wife Mary Ann Reason of Cle Elum; son Scott (Mirna) Reason of Covina, California; daughter Kelli (Christopher) Salazar of Fontana, California; grandchildren Daniel Reason, Taylor Salazar, Landon Salazar and Andre Estrada as well as his brother Morris (Kathleen) Reason of Texas. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Peter.

A thanks goes to Alan Hopkins '63 for notification of Bruce's passing. "Bruce and his older brother Morris lived across the road from us. We lived on Sherwood Rd. off N Meridian Rd. I don't think his older brother Morris graduated from OHS."
