Jeffrey Brian Martin was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Feb. 4, 1960. Howard and Eloise Martin adopted him and brought him home on a snowy day and were so happy. The family was later joined by Jeff’s sister, Brenda (Schoolcraft) and brother, David Martin.

Jeff attended school in Holland, Mich., before moving to Lansing in his last year of high school. He played football and wrestled, both of which he was quite good at.

He worked in construction a little before joining the U.S. Air Force. His hope was to travel the world while in the service, and he was sent to Alaska. Before leaving the service, Jeff went to Arizona and then returned home to Michigan for a short time, but went back to Alaska. In Anchorage, Alaska he worked for Montgomery Wards and then started working for PiP Printing in sales where he found his niche and his sales profession soared.

Jeff met and pursued Martha Johnson and convinced her to become his wife. They married in Anchorage on June 5, 1987 and stayed that way for 26 years.

In 1997, the couple moved to Pe Ell, Wash., to be closer to Martha’s parents. He worked for The Print Shop for a while until The Chronicle courted him away. He was a great salesman. He loved his clients, co-workers and community. Jeff never met a stranger. His and his wife’s families loved him very much and he will be greatly missed.

He loved fishing, hiking, camping, entertaining, bike riding and going to the beach.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Martha of Pe Ell; father, Howard (Gloria) Martin; mother, Eloise Martin; sister, Brenda (Dave) Schoolcraft; brother, David Martin; two daughters, Sarah and Crystal; and many in-laws, outlaws, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

We said good bye to Jeff on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 and hope he is at peace and rest now.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the New Harvest Assembly of God in Pe Ell, Wash., at 11:00 a.m.
