Joene Laura Willis, daughter of Ellsworth D. "Dan" (1902-1975) and Violet L. (Valentine) (1901-1980) Willis, was born 20 August 1927, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan. She graduated in 1945 from Okemos High School and married World War II Army veteran, Robert Jesse Lewis on 7 March 1947, Steuben County, Indiana. Robert, born 10 December 1924, died 13 May 1977. Joene and Robert had 5 children.
Joene married Floyd Edward Freeman, an Army World War II veteran, in 1979. Floyd, born 28 February 1925 died 25 March 1989.
Joene died 20 February 2019, Shiawassee County, Michigan. She was interred with Robert Lewis, Rose Lawn Cemetery, Perry, Shiawassee County.

Joene Laura Freeman, age 90 of Perry, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 20, 2018. Joene was born in Lansing, MI on August 20, 1927, the daughter of Ellsworth DeWitt & Violet L. (Valentine) Willis. She graduated from Okemos High School in the class of 1945. In 1947 she married Robert J. Lewis who predeceased her in 1977, married Floyd E. Freeman in 1979 and he predeceased her in 1989. Joene was a homemaker and attended Perry Baptist Church, past member of the Oddfellows and the VFW Auxillary Post 4063 of Perry. She is survived by her children: Robert (Joanne) Lewis, Jr., Juli (George) Yeager, Jami (Howard) Spray, Jeni (Carl) Winsky, and Joel (Tammy ) Lewis, step son Edward Freeman, step daughters Rebecca (Steve) Malkin and Darlene (Robert) Wallace, her beloved 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother and sister.
Funeral services will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Perry on Friday February 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Bishop Lawrence Steed will officiate with burial to follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Perry.
