James Clyde "Jim" Olin, son of Jay Wright (1901-1990) and Elsie M. (Sessions) (1902-1983) Olin, was born 19 February 1929, Vickeryville, Montcalm County, Michigan. He graduated in 1946 from Okemos High School and entered the US Navy. After honorable military discharge Jim furthered his education at Michigan State University, graduating with a Bachelor's degree.
Jim married Phyllis Lorraine Carter 17 June 1950, East Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan. He and Phyllis celebrated 62 years and 2 daughters together. Jim had a long career as a Director of Consumer Complaints in the Insurance Bureau for the State of Michigan.
Jim died 13 February 2013, Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, Michigan.

OLIN - James C. Olin, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Olin of Okemos, has enlisted in the navy and is now taking boot training at San Diego, Cal. He graduated from Okemos high school in 1946.

James C. Olin Houghton Lake James C. Olin, 83, passed away on Wednesday February 13, 2013 at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City. Jim was born on February 19, 1929 in Vickeryville, Michigan to Jay and Elsie(Sessions) Olin. He graduated from Okemos High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University. Jim served in the Navy. He worked as a Director of Consumer Complaints in the Insurance Bureau for the State of Michigan until his retirement. On June 17, 1950 in East Lansing he married Phyllis L. Carter. The couple moved to Houghton Lake from Lansing in 1993. Jim was a Life Member of the Houghton - Higgins Elks Lodge. Jim was passionate about his family, golf the Houghton Lake community and the MSU Spartans. Surviving Jim are his loving wife of over 62 years, Phyllis L. Olin of Houghton Lake; 2 daughters - Kristin (Kevin) Sullivan of Harper Woods, and Lynne (Jeff) Fossitt of Houghton Lake; brother John Olin of Lansing and sister MaryLou Olson of AZ; grandchildren, Michael (Lauren) Fossitt of Royal Oak, Andrew(Katie)Fossitt of AR, Molly Sullivan and Sean Sullivan of Harper Woods; great grandson, Tucker Warner Fossitt and several nieces and nephews and his loyal cat, Missy. James was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Olin. A celebration of Jim's life will be conducted at noon on Monday February 25, 2013 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Rev. William Winter officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday February 25, 2013 from 11:00a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00p.m. at the funeral home. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
