Hazel Ardis Rogers, daughter of Harry Glen (1884-1972) and Mattie Elizabeth (Westbrook) (1983-1972) Rogers, was born 1 May 1914, Manitoba, Canada. She graduated in 1934 from Okemos High School.
Hazel married fellow OHS graduate Sterling S. Alf, 7 June 1935, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan. Sterling, born 9 November 1911, Bottineau County, North Dakota, graduated in 1930 from Okemos High School. While in school Sterling was noted as an artist, working as a scene painter on school plays and productions. He was the designated cartoonist for the O.H.S. Record, the high school newspaper. Sterling later became a well-known local painter and artist.
Hazel and Alf raised two daughters. They lived in the Holt, Michigan area for many years. Alf died 11 July 1995. Hazel died 23 May 2008. Alf and Hazel were interred Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lansing, Ingham County.
