Thomas Parker Steketee - Class Of 1971

Thomas Parker Steketee, son of Frank Wallder (1927-2001) and Antoinette "Anne" (Thompson) Steketee, was born 14 July 1953, Kent County, Michigan.  Thomas graduated in 1971 from Okemos High School.  He died 29 October 1989, Grand Rapids, Kent County, interment unknown.

GRAND RAPIDS

Age 36, died unexpectedly October 29, 1989.  He was a graduate of Okemos High School in 1971 where he was an Honor Student, and member of the Jazz and Marching Bands.  He is survived by his mother, Anne Abbott of Cadillac; father, Frank Steketee of Ada; sister, Sarah Smith of Lansing; brothers, Robert of Haslett and Dan of Chicago.  A private memorial service was held.

Scott Smith (1972)

My 1st cousin, I miss him dearly.

He had an intellegent mind, was an gifted musician on any instrument he picked up and was unfortunately diagnosed with Schizophrenia in his mid twenties.  This was accentuated by heavy drug use as many in his time did.

 It was good to have known him in high school and I'm sad to hear he had such struggles, which impacts the family as well. Thank you for posting this as so often the real challenges people face are often glossed over.
