Newell Wendall Kiebler - Class Of 1932

Newell Wendall Kiebler, son of Emmett William (1882-1967) and Alice Bellona (Hilton) (1884-1985) Kiebler, was born 15 August 1914, Scottville, Mason County, Michigan.  Newell graduated in 1932 from Okemos High School.  He married Rosamond Ries Taylor 6 February 1937, Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan.  Rosamond also graduated from Okemos High.

DOUBLE WEDDING CEREMONY IS SOLEMNIZED AT JACKSON

A double wedding of interest to many Lansing and Jackson people was held at the parsonage of the First Baptist church in Jackson Saturday evening, February 6, at 7:30 o'clock.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Carl S. Winters, pastor of the church.  The young couples who spoke their vows were Miss Rosamond Ries Taylor, daughter of Mrs. Hazel L. Taylor, living near Williamston, and Newell Kiebler of East Lansing, and Miss Catherine Way, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Way, 605 South Jackson street, Jackson, and Albert Strinkham, also of Jackson.   Each couple in turn acted as maid of honor and best man for the other couple as the ceremony was performed.  The brides are cousins.

Miss Taylor wore a gown of wine-colored chiffon velvet, while Miss Way was attired in blue chiffon velvet, and both wore corsages of gardenias.  Miss Taylor, a nurse, received her training at Sparrow hospital, Lansing.  Mr. Kiebler is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Kiebler of Hagadorn road, east Lansing, his father being a member of the faculty of Michigan State college.  Both bride and bridegroom are graduates of the Okemos high school and Mr. Kiebler, for a time attended Michigan State college.

 

Newell was associated with Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Company for many years.  Newell, according an 6 June 1971 Lansing State Journal article, "started with Michigan Millers in 1945 as a member of its mill and elevator department.  He was promoted to vice president in 1965 and director in 1968."  His obituary reported he started with the company in 1936.

Newell and Rosamond were married 30 years and raised two sons, Frederick and William.   Rosamond , born 19 May 1915, died 31 May 1967, Lansing.

Newell married widow Helen J. (Curtis) Stanek.   Helen worked for many years at Green's Apparel in Lansing.  Newell died 8 August 1991, Lansing and was interred with Rosamond in Deepdale Memorial Park, Eaton County, Michigan.  Helen, born 20 March 1922, Idaho, died 7 June 2013, Lansing.

NEWELL W. KIEBLER

LANSING

Age 76, died August 8, 991.  Born August 15, 1914, Scottville, MI, Mr. Kiebler was associated with Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Company from 1936-1979 becoming the first Vice President, Secretary and Company director, retiring in 1979.  He was a graduate of Okemos High School and attended MSU.  He was a member of Okemos Pioneer Club, Lansing Lodge #196 B.P.O.E., Michigan Association of Insurance Companies and Michigan Insurance Education Council.  Mr. Kiebler was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Lansing; was active in volunteer work at Ingham Medical Hospital and a member of the Cornerstone Club.  Surviving are his wife, Helen J.; 4 sons, Fred (Susan) of West Bloomfield, Bill (Cathi) of Lansing, Richard (Katherine) Stanek of Troy and Robert Stanek of Holt; 2 daughters, Patricia Long of Lansing and Jeanne (Edward) Wood of Grand Ledge; 17 grandchildren, John, Marc, Luke, Matthew, David, Kristopher, Pamela, Marcia, Susan, Lisa, Andrew, Bill, Bryan, Aaron, Dustin, John and Rob; 1 great grandchild, Brandon; 2 brothers, Hilton A. of Lansing and Kelvin K. of Annandale, VA; and 2 sisters, Rose Mary Coakes of Marshall and Gretchen L. Kiebler of Kalamazoo.  Memorial Services will be held Monday, 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Ottawa at Chestnut, Lansing with the Rev. David Evans, Senior Pastor, officiating.
