Ward Glenn Bartholomew - Class Of 1935 VIEW PROFILE

Ward Glenn Bartholomew

Ward Glen Bartholomew, son of Ralph Edward (1893-1981) and Edna Olive (Tompkins) (1892-1955) Bartholomew, was born 11 February 1915, Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, Michigan.  He graduated in 1935 from Okemos High School.  Ward married Virginia Jeannette Champion 5 December 1936, Lagrange County, Indiana.  They repeated their marriage vows 31 December 1936 at Virginia's parent's home in East Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.

NUPTIAL RITES HELD

Miss Virginia Champion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Champion, South Harrison road, East Lansing, and Ward Glenn Bartholomew, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Bartholomew of Mason, were married New Year's Eve at the home of the bride's parent's.  The Rev. O. E. Ames, pastor of the Mayflower Congregational church, officiated.

The bride wore a powder blue crepe dress and a corsage of gardenias and sweet peas.  The couple were attended by Miss Dorothy Madden and Robert K. Jack, jr.

Ward went into business with his father in Mason.  He later became a builder and realtor. Ward and Virginia had no children.

Virginia, born 29 March 1916, Lansing, in 1955 "became a certified professional secretary" and was employed for 25 years with the State of Michigan Public Health Crime Detection Laboratory.  Virginia attended Okemos Consolidated Schools but transferred to and graduated from East Lansing High School.  Virginia did have a brother, Tom, who graduated from OHS in 1943.

Ward died 14 January 1985, Ingham County.  Virginia died 6 June 2004, Ingham County.  They were interred Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing.

Age 69, died Jan. 14, 1985.  He was born Feb. 11, 1915 in Traverse City, MI and came to the Mason area in 1919.  He and his father, Ralph, were owners of the Kaiser-Frazer Auto Dealership in Mason for several years and alter was a builder and real estate salesman in the Lansing area, retiring in 1976.  Surviving are his wife, Virginia J.; 2 brothers, Gordon E. Bartholomew of Jackson and Donald R. Bartholomew of Lansing; 1 brother-in-law, Thomas A. Champion of South Dakota.  Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thurs. at the Ball-Dunn Chapel, Gorsline-Runciman Co., Mason.  Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing.
