Robert Earl "Bob" Brownfield - Class Of 1955

Robert Earl "Bob" Brownfield, son of Ferdinand "Fred" (1901-1959) and Margaret (Herner) (1904-1973) Brownfield, was born 12 November 1934, Dimondale, Eaton County, Michigan.  He spent the first 3 years of high school in the Mason, Ingham County, Michigan school system and transferred to Okemos High School his senior year.  Bob graduated from Okemos High in 1955.  Next to his Tomahawk Yearbook senior picture; "I may seem a quiet lad - but you don't know me."

Bob served in the United States Army rose to the rank of Private First Class.  He married Sue Ann Townsend 21 November 1970, Hillsdale, Hillsdale County, Michigan.  

Bob and Sue celebrated 23 years of marriage and 2 sons together.  Bob died 9 July 2006, Ingham County.  He was interred Greenwood Cemetery, Ingham County.

ROBERT EARL BROWNFIELD

MASON, MI

Bob passed away to eternal life on Sunday, July 9, 2006.  Bob approached the challenge of his terminal cancer with courage, hope and trust in God.  He was a new member of the ABC of Aurelius.  Bob was born on November 12, 1934 to Ferdinand and Margaret (Herner) Brownfield.  He graduated from Okemos High School in 1955 and retired from MSU Service Garage after 34 years of service.  In retirement he drove Charter buses for Dean Trailways of Lansing with great pride and enjoyment.  Bob was drafted and served 6 years in the US Army with a tour in Germany.  He as a Life Member and Past Commander of the Lyle Edwards American Legion Post #491 of Leslie; also a member of the Mason Masonic Lodge #70 of Free and Accepted Masons, Mason Area Seniors, Pioneer Power and Antique Tractor and Old Engine Club of West Branch, MI, All Color Antique Tractor Club of Williamston.  He enjoyed his many years of bowling with his friends on the Mason Men's Senior Bowling League.  Bob is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sue Ann; children, Michael (Tammy) Brownfield, Todd (Cathi) Brownfield, step-children, Debra (Mitchell) Tyre and Larry (fiancée, Jenny) Hart; 6 very special grandsons, Mat and Andy Brownfield, Damon and Tyler Blackgrave and Iaian and Andre Hart; sister, Audrey (Mel) Swanson; brothers, Junior (JoAnn) Brownfield, Ken (Darlene) Brownfield and Gene (Kathy) Brownfield; sister-in-laws, Shiela (Charlie) Schagel, Sondra (Jake) Bortle and Diane (Larry) Roberts; special ex-daughter-in-law, Sigrid (Hart) Hawkinson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Margaret Brownfield and sister, Thelma Marie Brownfield.  Bob enjoyed his "special time" with his grandsons here in Mason, during their summer vacations, doing the "Grandpa things", such as fishing, camping and teaching them how to build, repair and use tools properly.  In later years, it was mowing lawn and riding his John Deer tractor.  Grandpa Bob will be greatly missed by all six of his grandsons.  Bob had two very special "Card friends" in Glenna Droscha and Agnes Elton who faithfully kept showing him with love and kindness.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13 1:00 at the Aurelius Baptist Church, 4419 West Barnes Road, Mason with the Rev. Stephen Aikin, officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Aurelius Township.
